Comfort food

This has been a crazy few weeks here in my house and back home...news from home requiring us to make rush decisions, kids sick, uncertainty involving the future, arguments, punishments, forgetfulness, disappointment, sadness among other things...

I'm far from family...That fact makes this all worse, but I do believe that God does not give you more than you can handle, and I consider myself to be a strong person who can face adversity head on, but sometimes I get knocked on my butt, and when I'm all alone I turn to comfort food, particularly food from my childhood, traditional foods, Puerto Rican food...a favorite of mine:

Pasteles...Typically a Christmas side dish to go along with some of my other favorites but I had some in my freezer and so I popped 1 (or 2...shhhhh!) in the pot to boil and the smell alone gave me comfort.

This is as close to home as I'm going to be for a while, and oddly I'm comforted by that.

ER visit

Well we spent dinner at the ER...E is fine but 3 days with a fever and no change merited a visit so I could find out what's wrong. And of course I had to take Mark with me (My camera)

but not for long because this couple had their brats with them who would NOT stop yelling, and the parents were the ones making em yell, I was so ready to tell them to shut their kid up because the ER was no playground, but I could see the look on Mario's face so to avoid a fight I kept my mouth shut but that didn't stop the loud sighs coming out of me and the harsh "I want to spank ur kid" looks.

And finally after 5 hours of boredom, food, brats and books they called us back...and E was NOT a happy camper and I know that when he see's these pix he is going to be so mad at me. lol...TEMPERATURE TIME:

I was so mad at that guy, but I knew they had to get a correct temp.

He is fine this morning but I can feel his temp rising still, he has an appointment today so hopefully they can tell me something.

Game Night

I love to have a good time. It's nice to get a break for a while from all the problems life brings, all the turmoil we r left to face, just to ignore life for a few hours and have a great time with good people. MARIA WE MISS U and it wasn't the same without u, I love u and I can't wait til we r close together again my sister!!! Jackie and Scott we miss u guys so much too!!! I can't wait to have a reunion!!!

In honor of my sick boy

I had to miss church today because my baby boy has a fever and is NOT a happy camper. I do NOT like when my kids r sick, I'm sure no parent does, but I freak out and can't eat or sleep and get all worried. I pray and I believe God will heal them, but in the meantime I still can't help but freak out because I just don't like seeing them that way. He's still too young to express what's wrong so we r left to stare and guess as he sits there crying or pointing. Breaks my heart. Everyone was sick in this house (excluding me) so I knew it was only a matter of time before he'd get it. This is him a few days ago, my happy, loving, NON-sick baby boy lovin on himself...I'm teaching him to be confident and love himself. lol. He's trying to kiss himself:

Get well soon my baby!!! Lord I believe you will heal him, now help me to remain calm.

Some award ceremony

The only reason I am posting this is because...well...they are pictures and we all know how I favor pictures. I don't like any with me in them, but my hubby took em so I must be proud of his ability to capture my good sides. lol. I was awarded something for doing something, that doesn't even matter, I don't do things for recognition, I actually hated going up there to receive anything, had I known this was part of the deal I would have never signed up for the gig in the 1st place. I like to be behind the scenes doing my thing. Anyway a few shots...

And now for my good sides, I don't like looking at the camera, I have this thing about my HUGE eyes. To be honest I didn't even know he was taking this until I checked my camera, I wonder what I was thinking?:

HAPPY SATURDAY! Today I'm getting my hair DID! And the sun is shining after a few days of rain! The breeze is blowing and the birds r singing...All is right with the world.

20 of 52 Unconditional love

Bath Time

He's learning to bathe himself and I love it...He's learning to lay down and not be afraid of the water in his ears or face thanx to his father because I don't have the patience, I get mad when he gets scared. lol. Play date with TJ and Amy

Took Elias to the park yesterday and met up with my friend Amy for yet another fun filled day of ADULT CONVERSATION! Remember that term? Been a while. Anyway our boys r about 4 months apart and they could care less about playing together so I should have titled this "play date with Latina and Amy", but anyway, here r a few (12) shots from the park:
This one cracks me up because Elias is SUCH a character, he saw me coming and did this, I think he knows the things that make me laugh so he does them on purpose, he's too funny and smart I LOVE HIM:

Such a big boy, I kept having to run after him, I didn't want to hover and not let him explore or be a boy, but he's quick and b4 I knew it he was climbing to the top of this ladder so b4 saving his life (A bit dramatic, I know) I snapped this shot of the big boy:
There were a whole bunch of other kids there with their daycare providers so Elias would stop from time to time and just watch them:

This post is all about baby boy today, I didn't intend for that but it just so happened that I had loads of pix of him (Go figure). He wakes up from naps like I do in the morning: CRANKY! SO to stop his crazy behavior I took him outside and let him play with the bubbles he got from Sunday school, and he had fun! Well so did his father and I

This one is MY FAVE I think he looks so cute with his long hair in his face this way, I can tell he's a boy how is it that people still can't? Maybe it's cause I'm his mom so, DUH, of course I know he's a boy. lol.:

Poor thing, we're not done cutting it, it's that he doesn't sit still long enough, but we need to get that hair out of his face:

Chillax'n at home

Baby boy was in desperate need of a hair cut, because I'm starting to get just a lil bit annoyed with "Oh she's so beautiful"...lol. BUT still, I could not bring my self to cut his curls, his big hair makes him. lol. Rather than spend the money we stayed home and dad took a try, not bad:

We shaved it enough so that when it's in a ponytail, people will notice and think twice b4 telling me I have beautiful girls.

After the cut we decided to rinse of all the hair off his body NY style, minus the street pump:

My dad will not be happy with this one, he hates when kids r not fully dressed VERY traditional Puerto Rican, but I couldn't resist the photo; I LOVE THOSE CHEEKS!:
OK so I always tell my clients "Don't mind if I get into weird positions to get the shot I need", so on this day I took it to a whole other level; the ROOF:

We had been talking about getting shots from up there for a while so on this day I tried it out:
The girls were fascinated, I, on the other hand was having an OCD moment and was picturing myself tripping and rolling down the roof landing in the trampoline (Chuck I know u'll appreciate that) lol:

I took a moment to love on my baby, one thing he is, is VERY loving, but then afterward he was like "iight mom" look at that face lol:
